Well, he's best to stick with the big name brands, generally speaking. However, there is no guarantee that the same thing won't happen again from a new woman he meets on one of those sites. The issue isn't that they had ego clashes. The issue probably is that he fell in love with who he made her out to be in his own mind and she turned out not to be who he dreamed up she was.
I assume from your post that he never really met this girl in person? The best advice that he could be given is that unless he has the money and time, he should date girls that he can meet locally, within a reasonable amount of travel time either by car or public transit (and everyone has a different idea what is "reasonable"). After he's successfully made contact with one of these women, he should ask to meet with her for something small and non-threatening, like coffee as soon as possible. If she delays or deflects or generally avoids the suggestion to meet, then she's not serious and -- no matter how hot her photos are or how great the online chatting is -- he should find someone who is willing to meet. The longer he stays spinning in his head how great the woman is and how fantastic it's going to be when they finally get together and she's just perfect for me, the harder the fall is going to be when he finally does meet her. |

Yeah, does anyone know the best dating sites? I went to qt2me.com (good name and no ads or bots) but they only had three girls. Or was there something wrong with the site? Any suggestions?

Hmm... that's weird. The original post is gone.
As for your question, new sites that don't have big advertising budgets aren't "out there" yet and consequently have fewer members. If you're looking for large numbers, stick to the large/mainstream sites. If you live in an area that doesn't have a large population or isn't close to a large city, then you won't have as much choice as those who do (choice does not imply success, though). The problem is that you might have luck on match, but your buddy has luck on OKCupid, while your officemate had some success on eHarmony and your sister likes Lavalife. There isn't any "one" site that's going to work for everyone. Even if you joined Match this year and have no luck, 2 years from now you could go back and have completely different results. |
